Welcome to Issue 2

Welcome to Issue 2 of Notes from the Podium! This is the second part in the two-part series on opera that has opened the periodical. You have quite a treat here – five interviews on three operas by Stravinsky, Britten and Donizetti. It can be fascinating to see how different conductors view the same work, and we have a real mix: Sir Mark Elder and Stephen Barlow on Stravinsky’s The Rakes Progress; Leo McFall and Christopher Stark on Britten’s The Turn of the Screw; and Duncan Ward on Donizetti’s Don Pasquale. All of the productions discussed are Glyndebourne Opera House Productions and are available commercially.

To all that are members already, thank you for your support of this unique project. I hope you enjoy this quarter’s delivery…! For those considering – there is temporary FREE access to the interviews from Issue 1 with Sir Mark Elder and Richard Farnes. Take a look!
